How Can I Get The New Self?

The “new self” is the new person that God desires each one of us to be. Before the world was even created, God knew that we would separate ourselves from Him by the sins we would commit (Isaiah 59:1-2). Fortunately for us, God also desired to adopt each one of us back as His “sons” (Eph. 1:5). However if God’s going to adopt us as “sons”, then we must become an entirely new creation (2 Cor. 5:17). This way when God looks upon us, He no longer sees us and our sins, but instead He sees His beloved Son, Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 5:21).

In order for this new creation to occur, we must first “get into” the Son, because that’s the only place where salvation can be found (2 Tim.2:10). We must also first “get into” Christ, before we can even have the option of “putting on the new self” (Eph. 4:24).

There are many sincere, religious people who read their Bibles often who suggest “different ways” to become a Christian. They might encourage you to say a “Sinner’s Prayer”, or fill out a church membership card, or even to go through an “official priest.” However, none of these methods can actually be found in the Bible. There are only two verses in the entire Bible that tell us exactly how we can “get into” Christ. They are Galatians 3:27 and Romans 6:3.
