Prayers God Can’t Hear

How many prayers have you heard offered on behalf of the salvation of unrepentant people? Does God hear/answer those prayers? Jeremiah was trying to pray that God was not deliver the people of Judah into captivity, but that God would be merciful. Here’s what God said:

“Thus says the Lord to this people, “Even so they have loved to wander; they have not kept their feet in check. Therefore the Lord does not accept them; now He will remember their iniquity and call their sins to account.” So the Lord said to me, “Do not pray for the welfare of this people.” (Jeremiah 14:10–11)

It goes against God’s very nature to answer the prayer to save/deliver unrepentant people. He simply cannot be in the presence of sin and so He doesn’t even want us to waste our time praying for the salvation of the unrepentant who are not following God. Our prays instead should be for their repentance so that God can hear their prayers. Come learn more at
